OUR PURPOSE AT PLANCRAFT

Building the backbone of European trades – together, with modern software and smart AI solutions.
We don’t just develop software – we’re on a mission to give tradespeople and contractors more room to focus on what matters. We do this by providing a practical SaaS solution that works the way they do: fast, efficient, and without unnecessary administrative overhead. Supported by smart AI features exactly where they make a real difference in everyday work.
Backed by Tier 1 investors from Europe and the US such as Headline and Creandum, and with more than 30,000 craftspeople as our customer base, we are scaling across Europe to turn individual, scattered businesses into connected and successful communities.
We believe in zero admin, not zero personality – and we build every feature with the people wearing safety boots in mind, not suits. We’re excited to shape the future together as a team, staying grounded in our mission to empower the builders and makers of tomorrow.

YOUR MISSION AT PLANCRAFT

As our first Head of Finance (f/m/d), you build and lead a modern Finance function designed for the next stage of scale — shaping the team, systems, and structures that enable plancraft to grow with clarity, control, and speed across Europe. Reporting directly to our CEO Julian, you act as a trusted strategic partner, translating financial insights into company-wide decisions and helping shape plancraft's long-term direction. You combine strong financial planning, operational excellence, and strategic thinking to navigate multi-entity, multi-product complexity, drive fact-based decisions, and turn Finance into a strong business partner. At the same time, you continuously challenge how Finance operates, embedding AI and automation where it creates real leverage, and prepare plancraft for its next phases of growth from Series B through Series C and beyond.

Your Responsibilities

  • Lead and scale the Finance function end-to-end across FP&A & Business Partnering, Strategic Finance & Capital, Accounting & Compliance, and Finance Operations & Systems.

  • Lead and grow the Finance team, starting with two strong specialists, as a builder-manager: creating the structure, ownership, and conditions for the team to thrive and operate independently, not executing every workstream yourself; define the hiring roadmap and bring clear, well-reasoned proposals for every hire: why now, what breaks if we wait, and what it costs us if we don't.

  • Drive plancraft's multi-entity expansion across Europe: legal entity setup, intercompany structures, transfer pricing, VAT compliance, and entity-level reporting.

  • Evaluate and own the evolution of our Finance tool landscape, making deliberate choices across AI-native tools, best-of-breed, ERP, and hybrid approaches; every recurring process defaults to AI & automation first.

  • Own financial planning, rolling forecasts, scenario modeling, and cash flow management, and establish Finance as a proactive business partner embedded in commercial, product, and strategic decisions before they're made, not after.

  • Co-own the financial data architecture in close alignment with Data and RevOps, ensuring financial definitions, revenue recognition logic, and entity structures are correctly modeled and tied into up- and downstream processes.

  • Own financial board and investor reporting, financial narrative, and the Finance workstream within Series C preparation, financial model, due diligence readiness, and data room — in close collaboration with Management and Legal.

  • Build a treasury and capital allocation framework, how post-investment capital is deployed, how cash positions across entities are actively managed, laying the foundation for a dedicated treasury function post Series C.

  • Define and evolve our accounting architecture, evaluating what to bring in-house vs. keep outsourced entity by entity, ensuring high-quality closings and compliance across all jurisdictions regardless of model.

  • Continuously challenge how Finance operates, driving AI & automation where it meaningfully increases leverage and reduces manual work.

What makes this role exciting

  • You work directly with our CEO Julian and Management Team, giving you immediate influence on company strategy, investment decisions, and plancraft's next stage of growth.

  • You are the architect — hiring and roadmap authority, tool decisions from day one.

  • You define & evolve the foundations what Finance will look like at 100m€ ARR and in a rapidly growing organization, not just today.

  • Direct exposure to and collaboration with Management & C-Level — and your work directly shapes the financial narrative we bring into board and investor conversations.

  • Building in a category-defining European B2B SaaS company at a genuinely pivotal moment.

What makes this role challenging

  • High complexity, high pace: Multi-entity & multi product expansion won't wait for a perfect setup.

  • Breadth is real: operational integrity, strategic leadership, and team building — simultaneously.

  • Tool landscape decisions have long-term consequences and need to be right under time pressure.

YOUR PROFILE

Must-Haves

  • 6+ years in Finance, owning Finance topics end-to-end in a high-growth environment (ideally B2B SaaS or tech), operating at lead or head-of level in a Series A+ stage company.

  • Proven track record building and scaling Finance teams with a strong hiring judgment and role design.

  • Genuine AI-first mindset, not just "open to AI" but someone who has the ability to adapt workflows to effectively leverage AI and brings that instinct into how they lead a Finance function.

  • Proven ownership of multi-entity international expansion, owning the financial architecture decisions, not just being present for them.

  • Experience evaluating and implementing Finance tool landscapes in complex environments, clear reasoning behind architectural choices.

  • Strong expertise across FP&A, accounting oversight, compliance, and strategic finance.

  • Experience supporting or leading fundraising processes at Series B or later stages, including investor-facing financial narratives.

  • Comfortable working at the intersection of Finance and data infrastructure, having worked closely with Data or RevOps to build a reliable single source of truth.

  • Ability to challenge and evolve traditional Finance operating models and build scalable, modern structures.

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively at executive and board level.

Nice-to-Haves

  • Familiarity with modern Finance tools and/or ERP systems (e.g., Light, Lucanet, Candis, Stripe, FP&A platforms).

  • German language skills (working proficiency or above).

  • Experience managing external tax advisors and defining accounting architecture decisions, what to bring in-house vs. keep outsourced and why.

Mindset that sets you apart:
You focus on evolving and building upon existing structures — you're here to take a strong foundation and architect what Finance looks like when built for the next stage of scale, with AI as the baseline. To you, a manual process is a bug, not a task. Your first instinct isn't to hire someone to do it, but to question why it exists and whether AI or automation can own it. You build lean by default, treating headcount a
